[Bathroom Reading] Hotshot Rookie's Future In Question

Post by Tony on Wed Sep 24, 2014 8:15 pm

One of the few rising, rookie stars in an NFL rife with players causing problems off the field in all manner of unsavory, Odell Beckham Jr. has it made for him unlike many other players that had come before him. He has one of the best Quarterbacks in the NFL tossing him the football, is seriously contending for the top wide receiver spot on the same squad as Victor Cruz, and possesses all the talent a young player can hope to have in the world.

Only three of these descriptions remain accurate unfortunately, as Beckham's career has suddenly come suspect as of a 3 in the morning arrest by Texas State Police sometime after he turned in one of the greatest performances of his career during a blowout game versus the Dallas Cowboys.

One poor decision leaves fans questioning the first round investement spent on one of their new favorite players as reports have come that the arrest was for dangerous, erratic driving along the highway while under the heavy influence of marijuana and alchohol. Video has in recent hours emerged of Beckham living the high life in Dallas nightclub visibly impaired, but continuing to engage in...naughtiness with him and a group of people. It is unclear at this time if any other Giants players were at the party with Odell, but team officials have quietly distanced other players on the team from the growing controversy.

The league has come down swiftly on his actions, realeasing a statement wholeheartedly offering their full co-operation to the authorities investigating the matter and offering sympathy for a player once in the good graces of the league.

The statement further read that a 1 game suspension was levied by the league's office once news broke of this incident. There is no word yet on if harsher penalties are to come, but it would seem unlikely given that this is his first offense under any league policy.

That said, the legal process could easily derail his playing in future games if he can not work out an arrangement with county prosecutors.

Calls put in to the team's offices for official comment went unreturned.

The Giants Head Coach was previously scheduled for a press conference later in the day, though it is entirely unlikely that he will find himself in front of the podium today.

We'll keep you up to date on the latest, so be sure to keep watch for upcoming details on this breaking news story!

ESPN is reporting that Odell actually has a twin half brother Mo'Dell Beckham who may or may not be the individual in the video. No report on his .40 time.

we should as a league make up some scandals and use some random numbers to assign them to players. For example we could roll a random number 1-32 to find a team, then roll a number for every position, and another one for every player that team has at the position. Add a little bit of spice, dumb luck and realism to the league.

Or you could just break a league rule and I can whip up an awesome like a possum story about it!

I did like half a dozen of these in my other league. Players from Adrian Peterson to Mike Wallace were caught up in scandals.
