[Bathroom Reading] New talent makes MJD-less game painless
[Bathroom Reading] New talent makes MJD-less game painless
Many teams around the league made big moves early in the season and the Oakland Raiders weren't one to be excluded from it. They've said goodbye to veterans Denarius Moore and Tyvon Branch. The team has welcomed in Brent Celek, Stevie Brown, and Reuben Randle. After all these moves, the Raiders had definitely had a new look heading into Week 3 against a tough Patriots Defense, ranked 5th in the league. Without the powerful legs of Maurice Jones-Drew, aka Pocket Hercules, Raiders Head Coach Pimp Daddy knew the odds were against them.
It seemed bleak early on for the team as with the third play of the game young starter Derek Carr threw an interception that set the New England Patriots up with excellent field position on the 30. Making matters even worse, the defense let Tom Brady throw a touchdown pass in almost no time at all.
However, it didn't take long for the rookie Quarterback to respond with a touchdown pass of his own to tie the game up 7-7. Quickly afterwards the defense stepped it up with a quick three-and-out causing the Patriots to punt the ball away. The kick returner was swallowed up, but somehow broke free for a touchdown swinging the momentum fully in the Raider's direction.
Pimp Daddy heard his players cheering on the sideline in response to this recent evevents, so he decided to stop reading his well work copy, oddly sticky copy of 50 Shades of Grey, so that he could take credit for a victory if the team did hang onto the lead and win.
Sio Moore's three game-changing interceptions throughout the game put the Raiders into great field position to capitalize on Derek Carr's goal, which he wrote in his diary that was passed around the locker room before the game, of tallying up three touchdown passes in the game.
When all was said and done the Oakland Raiders coasted to a 35-10 victory over the New England Patriots. Bouyed by the victory they are more eager than ever to face the currently undefeated Miami Dolphins in London to truly prove they belong in the conversation with other elite teams in the league.
After the game Head Coach Pimp Daddy talked to the media for a few moments, before going into the locker room to finish the second book of the 50 Shades of Grey series.
"I'd like to take credit for everything that has happened. If we lose next week though, I'm just gonna blame it on jet-lag."
Maurice Jones-Drew doesn't have to feel upset about missing this game, as he got to watch his team mates do what they do best sometimes; win.
